Rehabilitation Counseling
How do you guide a person who’s been damaged back to health? One means is to use the Self-Discovery Tapestry for the individual to assess past continuous connections and critical events that changed the course of life. Use of the “Future activities and attachments” column as well as the completed colored rectangles can serve as guides to adaptive behaviors. It is possible for the individual to complete the Tapestry in sections when fatigue or special interests indicate finishing only one or two sections at a time. Most individuals find the colorful result –the summary of their lives so far—to be a valuable record of accomplishments and an indication of healthy coping skills. The Tapestry may also be completed by the client or the counselor as the individual dictates responses.
